Appeared in Volume 9/1, February 1996
Amzi! has added ODBC support to its Prolog Logic Server(TM), allowing logic-bases to reason over any data accessible via ODBC. For example, a logic-base can access a customer-order-product database to configure products, determine shipping methods and compute prices.
ODBC support is provided at multiple levels. At the highest level, records appear as Prolog facts in the logic-base. At the lower levels, Prolog rules can issue any SQL command via ODBC.
Amzi!(TM) Prolog + Logic Server provides a full Prolog-language development system with a Windows IDE (Interactive Developer's Environment) and royalty-free, static and dynamic Logic Server libraries. This allows Prolog logic-bases to be embedded in C, C++, Delphi, Visual Basic, PowerBuilder, Access and many other tools. For Delphi and C++, the Logic Server is encapsulated as a component and a class.
Amzi! Prolog+Logic Server 3.3 is available in Professional and Personal Editions from US$298 to US$598 and runs under Windows 3.x, 95, NT, plus DOS, 32-bit DOS and Linux. Amzi! also offers Subscription Plus which provided automatic updates for a full year; and tutorials on Prolog and rule-based systems.
