SICStus Prolog is a high performance, largely ISO-conforming Prolog system. Extensions include: coroutining, exception handling, unbounded precision integers, a GNU Emacs interface, profiling and modules. It is available on most UNIX platforms, Windows 95/NT, Macintosh, OS/2 and MSDOS.

Selected new features: CLPFD; Dynamic loading of foreign code has been improved; Command line editing and history buffer (Win32, DOS, OS/2); Generic stand-alone applications (no need to write C) (Win32).

Free Student Copies of SICStus Prolog 3

In response to popular demand, the Academic Software License Agreement for SICStus Prolog 3 has been modified to enable educational establishments using SICStus Prolog to sub-license binaries to their students free of charge and with minimal paperwork.

The right to sub-license costs 6,000 SEK, or approximately US$ 890, and will be granted to academic licensees receiving SICS maintenance services. No limits on number of sub-licenses (students), number or type of platforms are imposed.

As before, class room use is permitted without need of purchasing the right to sub-license.

Licensees covered by the old Academic Software License Agreement may, at any time, choose to upgrade their current license agreement to acquire the right to sub-license by simply sending a fax, or letter, signed by an authorized person stating that wish to sicstus-request@sics.se, or by fax (+46 8 751 7230), or by air mail. SICS will then send an invoice and the grant of right to sub-license will become effective upon receipt of payment.

Binaries are available for all supported platforms. See the Academic Software License Agreement for licensing details at http://www.sics.se/sicstus.html.

SICS does not distribute free student copies of SICStus 3 directly to students. Contact your university/school, if you are interested.
