Prolog++ The Power of Object-Oriented and Logic Programming By Chris Moss
Appeared in Volume 7/4, November 1994
Keywords: OOP.
Prolog++ follows a pattern adopted by languages such as Objective-C (more clearly than C++) in making objects an extra layer on top of a basic language. Prolog++ compiles into standard Prolog and therefore has the advantages of portability across compilers and not disturbing the considerable expertise in the efficient compilation of Prolog. Most of the examples in the book were tested on a Macintosh computer, using the excellent programming environment provided by LPA. Special offers of low-cost Prolog++ compilers are available with the book for Macintosh or PCs.
The book is aimed at several audiences: it can be used by practical programmers who have a background in object-oriented techniques, or in logic programming, or by those for whom both of these concepts are a mystery. No prior knowledge of either is assumed and a self- contained introduction to Prolog is provided. It could also be used as a second or third year undergraduate or a graduate textbook. For this reason exercises are provided in all the core chapters.
