Geometric Treasure

Appeared in Volume 7/3, August 1994

I have a treasure map which says the following:

"Desert Road and Mountain Road intersect at right angles in downtown Dry Gulch. On Desert Road, within 10 miles east of the intersection, there is an old hanging tree (H). Within 10 miles west of the intersection, there is a well (W). Within 10 miles north of the intersection on Mountain Road, there is a stagecoach stop (S) in one spot and Barry's Farmhouse (F) in another spot. Draw a first line from the hanging tree to the farmhouse and a second line from the well to the stagecoach stop. These two lines cross at Magic Point A. Draw a third line from the hanging tree to the stagecoach stop and a fourth line from the well to the farmhouse. These two cross at Magic Point B. The point where line AB crosses Desert Road is the point where the treasure is buried."

I searched for the treasure. The Hanging tree was 3 miles east of town and the well was 6 miles west of town. But there was no longer any sign of the stagecoach stop or Barry's farmhouse. Show, algebraically, how the treasure can still be found and give its exact location.
